Story

From an early age, music has had a tremendous impact on my life. I remember music filling our home on a continual basis, from Latin rhythms to Led Zeppelin. Being the youngest of seven children, I had the opportunity to hear many different genres being played by my parents, brothers and sisters.

I remember my first time in a club and hearing a DJ mix. The way he took one song and seamlessly blended it into the next, simply overwhelmed me. Hearing the words to a song and the arrangement behind it, the strings, the vocals, and the drums made me want to invoke the same high in others as he did in me that first night I heard him.

I started to DJ in 1977 and have spent most of my adult life trying to recreate that same magic that overwhelmed me. I have been fortunate to have played at many different venues and have met so many great DJ’s along the way. The most current venue I called home was The Charlotte Eagle, which unfortunately fell to the hard economy in 2009 and was forced to close it’s doors. I’ve recently resurrected a monthly bear-themed night called “Bear Encounters” at Petra’s Piano bar in Charlotte, and I continue to make appearances at many annual weekend events across the country.

And as always, music is definitely the answer!
